She Still Calls Me Daddy is a guide for fathers whose daughters are getting married, written by a man with two married daughters himself. It talks about reestablishing and remodeling the relationship between a father and his newlywed daughter.

Although I am not a father, or a male for that matter, I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. It has given me so much insight into what a parent goes through when their daughter gets married. As I hope to have a daughter one day, I really valued this insightful informational book.

Money Strategies for Tough Times by: Matt Bell

Money Strategies for Tough Times by Matt Bell did not help me at all. It was a fast read but I didn’t get much out of it. Yes, we are going through some very tough times economically wise but it still didn’t help me personally. Seeing as how I am living with my boyfriend in his parents’ house I am not yet experiencing the tough times this book is talking about. I am sure that to the right reader this book would come as an excellent source of knowledge and wisdom and would help out immensely. Because of the economy, neither my boyfriend nor I have a job so when it starts talking about retirement funds and planning for the future we can’t exactly do that right now. The student loans section was helpful because I would like to go to college soon and I don’t want to go into debt because of it. All in all I think Money Strategies for Tough Times by Matt Bell would have been a lot better without all the scripture because it just made me lose focus since I was trying to digest both the scripture and the actual reading all at once.

Jesus Calling by: Sarah Young

Jesus Calling is a day by day prayer journal by Sarah Young. She used to write her own journal but then one day decided to listen more carefully to the Lord and write what He spoke to her. In between these pages is what the missionary Sarah Young believes God is telling her.

I’m not exactly religious so this book didn’t help me very much at all. Though I would recommend it to a friend because it seems like it would be very enlightening book to someone that is deeply religious.

Skinny by: Laura L. Smith

I really enjoyed reading Skinny by: Laura L. Smith. I wasn’t sure that I would because of the topic but I ended up enjoying myself and it turned out to be a fast read. To many teens these days think they are overweight because of women they see in magazines. I liked how Melissa’s character was portrayed and how the plot was laid out. The characters were very well developed. It kept me entertained from page one. I liked how the ending didn’t just stop abruptly like a lot of books tend to do, and I would definitely recommend this book to a friend. I was delighted to see that she went to her best friend for help and that her family didn’t judge her for what she had done to herself. High school and peer pressure can be extremely tough so I understand how Melissa might have thought of herself as overweight. I have a friend who used to have an eating disorder and her symptoms were a lot like what the book described so I’m really happy that Melissa saw the error of her ways and that what she was doing was harming her body, not helping it.

Face of Betrayal by: Lis Weighl

While on Christmas break a seventeen-year-old Senate page named Katie Converse goes missing. The Triple Threat, which consists of crime reporter Cassidy Shaw, federal prosecutor Allison Pierce, and FBI Special Agent Nicole Hedges, teams up to try and find her. Through the help of Katie’s blog these three women try to piece together what happened to this unfortunate young woman.

I didn’t think I would really get into this book but I ended up surprising myself. It was very entertaining. However, I didn’t like how it ended. It seemed to stop suddenly, like the book wasn’t quite finished yet. The character development could have been better and I didn’t like the way the chapters were set up, they are very confusing at first. All that aside, the book captured my attention from the start and didn’t let it go. I would definitely recommend it to others.

My dream job is to be a freelance copy editor. What better way to spend your day than to sit in the comfort of your own home doing the thing you love best and getting paid for it? The thing I love doing best just happens to be correcting grammar. I was on my high school's Yearbook staff and my title was the "Grammar Nazi", basically a copy editor, and I loved it.
